Morning Speaker (10:00 – 12:30): Dr Marcia Imbeau, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville

Vulnerabilities of Gifted Children – Ideas for Developing Resiliency in Your Child
All children experience a variety of issues growing up; however, for some gifted and talented students those issues can be debilitating and have negative results. Parents can be extremely helpful in assisting their children through those "rough spots" by learning about issues that they may encounter and ways they might support them. Several ideas from scholars in the field of gifted education will be shared and handouts will be provided.

Dr. Imbeau is a board member and on the executive committee of the NAGC and the Council of Exceptional Children - The Association for the Gifted Division. She is president of Arkansans for Gifted and Talented Education. Dr. Imbeau also is a member of the ASCD Differentiated Instruction Cadre, which provides support and training to schools to help meet the academically diverse learning needs of their students.

Afternoon Speakers (1:00 – 2:30): Cheryl Atwater and Stephanie Hobson

Creatively Solving "Problems..."
Creative Problem Solving is a blend of both critical and creative thinking – and what’s more – it’s FUN!  While it is a great activity for all gifted kids – it has particular appeal for the Visual-Spatial Learner. Cheryl and Steph will give plenty of ideas for CPS activities that you can do with you children/students. She will also explain about the Odyssey of the Mind program and how to get your school involved.  The afternoon will end with a fun hands-on problem solving activity for all.

Cheryl Atwater teaches at a district Challenge Centre for gifted learners in Coquitlam. Stephanie Hobson, is a long-term participant in Odyssey, first as a team member and now as a judge.

Kids’ Programme(10:00-2:30): Roberta Beck, Camp Leader
